Please note: A number of other websites refer to using bentonite clay. Please DO NOT substitute their guidelines or product for ours. Our clay is stronger in its action than a lot of other clays, different in its texture and the way it behaves. Our guidelines are designed to work with our products.

This guideline has been written to provide a comprehensive approach. The best result is gained when the whole guideline is followed. The following information is not intended to diagnose any condition or to replace the advice of your doctor.

To make a clay douche:

  • Clay douching involves taking Purely Earth Clay powder and hydrating it with water to make a watery slurry. This slurry is best made up in a squeezable bottle with a nozzle on it which is then inserted into the vaginal canal. Squeezing the bottle dispenses the slurry into the vagina.
  • If you are likely to need more than one application, it is a great time saver to make up more than you need for the first application. After each application you should sterilise the nozzle of the bottle  and make the bottle airtight to store the rest of the clay for later use. It will keep in the fridge in an airtight container for at least 3 weeks.
  • The best consistency for douching is made using 1 part clay to 10 parts water. Measure out the required water volume and place it in your bottle. It does not matter whether the water you use is warm or cold. Just make sure it is a comfortable temperature.
  • Add the correct amount of clay powder.
  • Shake the bottle vigorously until the clay is mixed into the water.
  • You may need to add more water to any unused clay before you use it the next time if it has become too thick while sitting.

To use a clay douche:

  • Put the sterilised nozzle on to your bottle.
  • Shake the clay mixture before each application.
  • Either lie down in a shower or in a bath with your pelvis elevated, or on the floor of your bathroom. You can place a towel under your bottom to make elevation of the pelvis easier. if you choose to do this on your bathroom floor, place a towel under your lower body to mop up leakages.
  • Insert the nozzle of the bottle into your vagina.
  • Squeeze the bottle so that the contents are expelled into the vaginal canal. Elevating your pelvis makes it easier to retain the liquid.
  • When the vaginal canal is full, remove the bottle and place your hand or a flannel over the vaginal opening to hold the fluid in.
  • Remain in position for at least 10 minutes.
  • Expel the liquid into the shower, bath or a toilet using your pelvic muscles to do so.
  • Wash the vaginal area afterwards with clean water.
  • Pat the area dry with a clean towel.
